Multiplier Event
organized by Regional history museum – Pleven
On 18th May 2021 Regional History Museum – Pleven organized a Multiplier event by the project “Opening Heritage and Archeological Sites for People with Special Needs – OHAS”.
The main activity of the OHAS project for the Regional Historical Museum – Pleven is the development of a training program for employees of cultural institutions to work with visitors with special needs and its implementation. In connection with this activity we organize a Multiplier event. We trained the staff of cultural institutions to work with people with special needs. It was held in the city of Pleven on 18th May. We have invited colleagues from cultural institutions in the country, including from Pleven. In the event participated 54 persons. We was present to them complete outputs of the project. We was do it live, in Regional history museum – Pleven.
The project was presented at the Multiplier event (objectives, development and forthcoming activities). We invited directors, curators, guides, pedagogues and employees of cultural institutes who work directly or indirectly with visitors to take part in it. It is important to reach a wider range of people to work on making museums accessible and welcoming.
The aim of the program is to expand the range of activities of museums and galleries to work with people with disabilities and ensure their free access to cultural sites. We were present the project, exchanged experiences and ideas for accessible environment. This was be very useful for the cultural institutions in Bulgaria, because very few of them work with people with disabilities and this event help us work for it.
This event was focused on the needs of people with disabilities. It was divided into several areas, which were be led by specialists in the relevant fields: to work with people with physical disabilities, hearing impaired, visually impaired, with intellectual disabilities and people from the autism spectrum.
There was a theoretical part and practical classes, demonstrations and examples of inclusive practices. This event gave participants new knowledge, skills and ideas for an accessible environment. The interest was great and we will work in this direction in the future.
The OHAS project connects and unites different countries. Helps to exchange experiences, ideas, development and is a good example of inclusive practices. Together we want to turn cultural institutions into an accessible and pleasant environment for all people.
